You will require a copy of your event ticket, this is in a pdf attachment to your confirmation email, it shows your name and bike number. The event pack contains personalised and colour coded bike tags and wristbands
Merchandise
Event jackets and jerseys can be collected or purchased at Sign In at the Eccles Hotel. Finishers medals will be awarded to all participants who complete the event.
Start Times
The official start time for all routes is 8:00, cyclists may join the group start at 8 or leave anytime between 7:30 and 9:00.
Cyclist are asked not to start outside the 7:30 – 9:00 window as they will not have event support, event insurance cover, food stops, medical or mechanical support
All 3 routes will start at the Eccles Hotel, Glengarriff. P75 AO72
Cut Off Times
The broom wagon will leave Eyeries foodstop at 3:45pm and travel at an average speed of 20kph arriving in Glengarriff at 6:15pm. The Glengarriff finish line will close at 6:15pm. Any cyclists passed by broom wagon will be cycling unsupported and deemed to be outside of the event. They will not be eligible for finishers medals and will be responsible for their own safety and way home.
Transferring To Another Route
Cyclists can transfer to one of the other routes on the day if they wish to do so, however, if transferring to the 160k route please let us know at Sign In and allow ample time to finish within the times mentioned above.
Food & Waterstops
There are foodstops at Eyeries for all routes and also in Adrigole for the 160km. The Adrigole foodstop will be open from 9:30am and the Eyeries Foodstop from 10:30am. There will be a number of waterstops at strategic positions including Lauragh, Healy Pass, Gour (7K after Castletownbere), Allihies. Extra waterstops maybe provided if conditions require.
Parking
Carpool if possible. There will be limited free parking for the Tour De Beara in Glengarriff. Consider parking on the roadside between Glengarriff and Adrigole as capacity in the immediate village area will fill early. Off road parking will also be available. Please follow the directions of the parking stewards.
Road Safety
All roads are open to vehicular traffic and normal rules of the road apply.
Please be mindful of other road users, your own safety and that of other cyclists. Emergency medical number 085 2326589 is printed on your bike tag and wristband
Bike Repairs
Bike mechanics will be available on the day, however, everybody is expected to bring the basics with them on the day i.e. Puncture repair kit, spare tube, pump and tyre levers. It is strongly advised that you know how to fix a simple puncture as this could save you a lot of waiting time on the day.
If you encounter a problem that you are unable to sort yourself phone the Mechanical Breakdown helpline number which is on your bike tag and wristband
Please give clear and precise information on the nature of the problem, where you are located and give your contact number.
The coordinator will inform the nearest mechanic to assist you but please understand that they may take some time to reach you. It is strongly advised that you have a full service carried out on your bike before the event.
There will be a bike repair station at Eyeries and at Adrigole food stops.
